Josiah is growing quite expressive. He is more interactive everyday and a whole lot of fun! This is just one of the many pictures shot by me while he was playing with his Aunt Desiree a.k.a. "Aunt Rae Rae". We had loads of fun trying to capture his glorious smiles and happy faces. Despite his round of vaccinations the day before, Josiah was quite the entertainer. He also let out a chuckle the other day. Oh happy day!

Due to popular demand, here is another video. Couldn't you just look at it all day? I get to see it live, everyday! How lucky am I? It is wonderful to be able to share. Josiah is growing so fast and becoming more interactive everyday. As one of my friends put it, it's more fun when they grow out of the jelly-neck phase. He's still a bit wobbly, but gaining control very well. He is now responding to books and mirrors. He definitely knows faces and voices and smiles a lot! I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

Moment of Serenity

I was told during my pregnancy, that one of the things to help get through sleepless nights and a fussy baby, is to look at him while he sleeps. This is so true! I just fall in love with him all over again. It is in these moments that I become aware of the overwhelming gratitude I have for Josiah. I am thankful for his cries, his neediness, and even his dirty diapers. These are all signs of a happy, thriving baby. How blessed I am to have a healthy baby!

To think that I actually thought I had too many baby clothes! I've got the diaper change down pat, along with learning to keep a burp cloth handy in every corner of every room. I'm also getting pretty good at bath time, and he is enjoying it more. Josiah and I are very patient with one another and despite the seemingly chaotic schedule, I know I will miss these times. As everyone tells me, they go so fast.

I couldn't quite catch it in a snap shot, so I decided to make a video to capture Josiah's beautiful smile. He has, of course, been smiling since birth, but he is now beginning to smile in response to people. The first time he smiled at me, was the morning of my birthday. What a gift! I'm looking forward to many more! I hope this makes you smile too. How could it not?

Josiah goes to mass!

Josiah had his introduction to St. Bernadette Church this past Sunday. He got to hear Gammy (grandma), Grandpa Denny, and Aunt Dawn sing. You guessed it... he slept most of the time. Nevertheless, he brought great joy to the congregation. So many people came up after mass to sneak a glance at the new baby and offer him blessings. We are planning a baptism at the end of the year. I'm pretty sure he won't sleep through that. :)

Field trip to Rowe Woods

Josiah had his first field trip to Rowe Woods. Unfortunately, he slept through the entire hike. He missed out on the brilliant leaf colors, pretty birds, and a sighting of a young snake. Oh well, I plan to take him there frequently to try and spark a love for nature. I certainly enjoyed myself. I hiked the Whitetail Deer trail and soaked up the final day of Indian Summer. Then I came home and ate some candy corn. It seemed appropriate.

Josiah is very familiar with John's voice. We began dating when I was four months pregnant and we spent lots of time together. John was incredibly helpful in preparing for Josiah's homecoming and continues to give of his time and talents. I am eternally grateful for all the heavy items carried, doors opened, the many helping hands to keep me steady on my feet, and giving me needed respites. Not to mention all the technical help, from fixing my computer to installing the car seat base and much, much more. Now if only I can talk him into changing diapers, he'd be perfect! ;)

First official bath!

Josiah was delayed in having a "real" bath due to a belly button issue. Now that he's all healed, he was able to take an honest to goodness bath. He wasn't too thrilled about that, but he did like the sprayer on his head. He even let me give him a mohawk! I couldn't resist with all that hair of his. I followed the bath with a massage. He loved it... of course. That seemed to make up for the seemingly torturous bath. LOL

Wow... how about this weather we're having?! 74 degrees and sunny today!

Today marks Josiah's first election day. What a historical day, in more ways than one. I do plan on making sure that my boy is well informed and stress the importance of the political process, especially exercising the right to vote.

But for now, we are just enjoying this fabulous weather by taking long walks and hanging out in the back yard. A few more days like this before the cold weather creeps in. I plan on enjoying every minute.

Well, we're off to play outside!

Josiah David Miller entered this big, beautiful world on October 11, 2008 at 6:13 am, weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long.

Everyone goes on and on about all that hair!! He is one handsome boy, if I do say so myself.

I want to thank my family and friends for all of your love and support. A special thanks to Wendy, my doula, Jill, my birth partner and Sue Comte, my midwife. All of you helped me achieve my dream of having a natural childbirth.
